The Story Behind the Lodge
Fox and Bear Lodge didn’t always operate as a bed and breakfast. This colonial mansion in Sussex County was a private residence for many years before becoming the Apple Valley Inn and home to the Candy Apple Shoppe. After many successful years, the property changed hands and the inn was transformed into what is now Fox and Bear Lodge

Privacy Policy
- When making a reservation, we require a deposit equal to your first night’s stay and
balance due 14 days prior to arrival. - One night reservations are paid in full in advance.
- As a small sized inn, cancellations affect us greatly. Should you cancel more than 14 days
prior to arrival, your deposit will be refunded minus a $50 administration fee. - Should you cancel within 14 days of arrival, your deposit will be forfeited.
Daily: 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Please let us know if you will be checking in after 6 pm.

Only children age 14 and over are welcome at the inn.
The Fox and Bear Lodge is a non-smoking property.
We do not permit pets at The Fox and Bear Lodge. If you are traveling with a canine companion
we can refer you to reputable and caring facilities where they may enjoy their own
accommodations.
Any damage to hotel property, whether accidental or willful, is the responsibility of the
registered guest. Any cost associated with repairs and/or replacement will be charged to the
credit card of the registered guest.
- We serve breakfast in the dining room from 8:30 to 10 am.
- If you wish to invite outside guests to join you for breakfast, please check with the Lodge
host for that added cost
Please notify us if you are visiting The Fox and Bear Lodge with a gift certificate or voucher. We
still need a credit card on file, although no charges will be applied until after your visit.
